On The Couch With Judas

We have all seen these in edit houses.

The classic Aeron chair that saves our backs during the long hours of slicing and dicing. What you don’t know is, these mighty feats of style and engineering can mutate easily into…

The Audition Couch (it’s still just a chair, but you get what I mean).

Yes, PS 260 is now auditioning for the second shoot of our upcoming movie On The Road With Judas. Look at our amazing talent pickers. Amy’s always on the phone like a good producer should be, Casting X keeps it on the DL.

JJ has the camera and is ready for anything.

And Ronan works it out behind the scenes.

Obviously, this is the first blog mention of the film, but the project has been in the works for a bit now. We don’t want to give too much away, but lets just say we’re all pretty excited and we think you should too. Stay tuned.

The Year In Films

Well People, we are an editing boutique, so most of us have a love affair (obsession?) with films. We don’t have a March Madness pool, we do the Oscars. Its been a tradition now for three years. And in that vein, another yearly event is the Year End Movie Recap. Anyone who cares enough makes a top ten list and breaks it down. Here are the answers so far.

Jason rocks it like this:

ok professor, here you go....

1. Syriana
2. Match Point
3. Good Night, and Good Luck
4. Munich
5. 40 Year Old Virgin
6. Sin City
7. Squid and the Whale
8. Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room
9. Crash
10. Mail Order Wife

Best Movie on Nobody Else’s List
The Greatest Game Ever Played

Princess gives it to us straight:

Top Ten
1. Batman Begins
2. Crash
3. Munich
4. Grizzly Man
5. Rize
6. Sin City
7. Match Point
8. March of the Penguins
9. Syriana
10. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Worst Movies Of All Time

Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Wish I Would Have Seen
A History of Violence
Old Boy
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress
The Constant Gardener
Capote
Boys of Baraka
The Squid and the Whale
Good Night and Good luck

Nicole, even though shes a Brandamer is allowed to go down like this:

Nicole’s Top 10 of 2005
1) The Squid and The Whale
2) Crash
3) Happy Endings
4) Brokeback Mountain
5) Walk The Line
6) March of The Penguins
7) Look At Me
8) Broken Flowers
9) Junebug
10) Me and You and Everyone We Know

Erik had some caveats about the year:

This year I only saw 12 new releases, so in the interest of being selective/critical, I'm just doing a very John Cusack "top 5".
1) I am a sex addict (Tribeca)
2) Brick (sundance)
3) Munich
4) Kung Fu Hustle
5) Syriana

To tell you the truth, out of those 5 I listed, the top 2 are the only ones I would call seriously inspired pieces. The last few are kind of filler. I need to see more movies.

Jenna was non too pleased, either:

Sadly, upon scanning The List I realized that I didn't like many movies this year all that much. Cinema failed to thrill or delight me this year. Here are the ten movies I enjoyed the most, though few of them would make it onto a true top ten list:

1. The Squid and the Whale
2. The Aristocrats
3. The 40-Year-Old Virgin
4. Batman Begins
5. Walk the Line
6. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
7. Shopgirl
8. The Beat That My Heart Skipped
9. (tie) Millions and Harry Potter 4
10. (tie) MirrorMask and Serenity.

That's a fucked-up list.

And here is my top ten movies that I really wanted to see and just never did:
1. Sin City
2. Mad Hot Ballroom
3. 5x2
4. Caterina in the Big City
5. Melinda & Melinda
6. Rock School
7. Murderball
8. Corpse Bride
9. Red Eye
10. Four Brothers
Just kidding...
10. Bee Season

Well, there are always DVDs.

Bryan always keeps it real (its a repeat picture, we know, but he wasn't here today so sue us):

1. The Devils Rejects
2. I Am a Sex Addict
3. The Three Burials of Melacodes Estrada
4. Capote
5. Boys of Baraka
6. Head On
7. History of Violence
8. Corpse Bride
9. My Summer of Love
10. March of the Penguins

Honorable Mention:
Land Of the Dead, Inside Deep Throat

Ned keeps it simple:

1. Match Point
2. Syriana
3. Batman Begins
4. Wedding Crashers
5. The Producers
6. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
7. Millions
8. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
9. War of the Worlds
10. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

And Dustin just kept going:

Top Ten (Plus)
1. Sin City
2. Squid and Whale
3. Batman Begins
4. Crash
5. 40 Year Old Virgin
6. Match Point
7. Me You and Everyone We Know
8. The Aristocrats
9. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
10. Kung Fu Hustle
11. Serenity
12. Comedians of Comedy
13. Brokeback Mountain
14. Wallace And Grommit

Best Movies I liked but People Hated
1. Family Stone
2. Hitch
3. Howl’s Moving Castle

Best Effects that Did Not Pull Off a Good Movie
1. Mirror Mask
2. Star Wars III
3. War Of The Worlds

Best Under the Radar
1. Beat That My Heart Skipped
2. Jesus Is Magic

Best Need of an Editor (cut an hour, please!)
1. King Kong
2. Munich

Best Movie I can’t Place On A List
Harry Potter 4

Worst Movie
The Game Of Their Lives (on a plane, okay)

And finally, Wish I had Seens
Good Night, Good Luck
Syriana
Jarhead
June Bug
Broken Flowers
History of Violence
Three Burials of Melqueiades Estrada
Cinderella Man
Shop Girl
March of the Penguins
Rize
Capote
Constant Gardner
Kings and Queens

And there you have it. Some key debaters are missing, but im sure we’ll get them up here soon enough. Do you have any favorites?

Into The Mill

Wednesday, runner extraordinaires Ned and Madeleine were busy keeping the office together.

Little did they know PS 260 was going on a fieldtrip to the Mill party.

Mostly the younger crew made it out.

And entered the Mill elevator which is somewhat infamous in PS lore for reasons unbloggable.

It ended up being a bit more low key, more reception than party, but the pear Martinis did flow.

And the cheese and crudités spread rocked it with normal Mill client services style. (they had a full sushi table as well that went unpictured).

Dustin enjoyed the TV fire.

And met up with flame artiste David for some band swapping. (Matisyahu and Wolf Parade were mentioned).

Princess and Sarra made it in a bit later.

Just around the time Ned left to be captured on Close Circuit Television.

Happy belated Mill holiday party! (they rescheduled because of the transit strike).

Producing Habitat

(you should read the below entry with a cheesy national geographic English/Australian narrator accent)

Here we find the producers in their natural habitat (executive producer Zarina on the left, and Mitch on the right).

Usually very busy, they do not like to be bothered by trivialities such as blogs. Notice what happened to the last profiler.

They do surround themselves with lush green flora.

But be wary, if you approach with a camera, they can get skittish.

And runaway.

Join us next week, for another glorious exploration of the PS 260 jungle.
